10/17/2015SU Ag Center accepting BOLD application for 2015-2016 class session
The Building Opportunities through Leadership Development (BOLD) Project is now accepting applications for the 2015-2016 session. Classes will begin on Saturday, October 17, 2015, for registered participants.

8/15/2015 SULC announces August 15 application deadline for Loan Reduction Assistance Program
August 15, 2015, is the deadline to submit applications for the Southern University Law Center Loan Reduction Assistance Program (LRAP). The program is open to SULC graduates who desire to enter and remain in public service/interest employment.

7/26/2015 Bayou Classic tickets on sale now
Tickets for the 42nd Bayou Classic football game between the Southern University Jaguars and the Grambling State University Tigers are on sale now.

7/29/2015 SU Ag Center teaches nutrition education to seniors with herb gardens
Southern University Ag Center nutrition educator Camellia Brown, nutrition assistant Salette Tennie, and extension associate Stephanie Elwood came together at senior living facility in Ville Platte to teach nutrition education learners how to make healthier food choices by using more herbs in their foods.

7/29/2015 SUNO AD and women's basketball coach retiring after 41 years
After 41 years as a student, coach, and athletic director, Elston King, Southern University New Orleans director of athletics and head women’s basketball coach, is retiring.

7/28/2015 FEMA awards SUNO an additional $82 million in Disaster Recovery Grants
The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) awarded Southern University New Orleans an additional $82 million in disaster recovery grants, as announced by U.S. Congressman Cedric Richmond Thursday, July 23, 2015. The funding will allow SUNO to construct four new buildings—two on its Lake Campus and two on its Park Campus.

SU student-athletes junior Trelun Banks and redshirt sophomore Jared Sam will compete in a three country goodwill tour sponsored by Global Sports Academy starting August 6, 2015.

7/24/2015 Research conducted at SU wins at La. science competition
Research conducted at Southern University won first place recently at the Louisiana Alliance for Simulation-Guided Materials Applications (LASiGMA) Louisiana EPSCoR RII 2015 Symposium.

7/23/2015 SUSF launches Million Dollar March
The Southern University System Foundation (SUSF) kicked-off its second annual Million Dollar March (MDM) campaign July 23, 2015, at the Donald C. Wade House on the Southern University Baton Rouge campus.

7/21/2015 SU System celebrates 125th Anniversary of the signing of the Second Morrill Act with other 1890 Land-Grant Universities in Washington, D. C.
Southern University System President-Chancellor Ray L. Belton and several members of the SU Ag Center and SU Baton Rouge participated in the Capitol Hill celebration of the 125th Anniversary of the Signing of the Second Morrill Act of 1890. This Act created land-grant universities for African Americans.

Southern University National Alumni Federation President Preston J. Castille Jr. has been selected as a recipient of the Louisiana State Bar Association's "Citizen Lawyer Award."

8/1/2012 SU System Foundation 1880 Society
Fifteen charter members in the fall of 2011 established a new giving society with the potential to generate $1 million annually for the University. The 1880 Society is a cumulative giving initiative where individuals make multi-year pledges to support the University. The goal is to have 1,000 individuals give at least $1,000 per year.
