The Southern University Ag Center will Host its 22nd Annual Black History Quiz Bowl in the SU Ag Center auditorium on February 25, 2016, at 3 p.m. All students are eligible to participate.

2/4/2016 President Obama nominates SULC alumna for federal judgeship
U.S. Attorney and Southern University Law Center alumna Stephanie Finley was nominated February 4, 2016, by President Barack Obama to serve as a federal judge in the U.S. Western District of Louisiana, which includes Lafayette, Lake Charles, Alexandria and Shreveport.

2/4/2016 SUSLA boasts record enrollment for Spring 2016 semester
Southern University Shreveport has enrolled a record 3,242 students for the Spring 2016 semester. This follows a previous record Fall 2015 semester enrollment of 3,174 students.

2/3/2016 SU Urban Forestry Program granted SAF accreditation candidacy status
The Southern University Baton Rouge Urban Forestry Program was recently granted initial candidacy for accreditation by the Society of American Foresters (SAF).

2/2/2016 SU Law Chancellor Search Committee announces semi-finalists
A Southern University System Board of Supervisors' Chancellor Search Committee charged with assisting the SU System with selecting a new chancellor for the Southern University Law Center (SULC), today announced semi-finalists for the position.
2/2/2016 SUBR Counseling Center re-accredited, provides vital services to students
The Southern University Baton Rouge Counseling Center (SUCC) was recently re-accredited by the International Association of Counseling Services, Inc. (IACS), an Alexandria, Virginia-based organization of United States, Canadian, and Australian counseling agencies.

1/29/2016 SU Ag Center awarded $1.5 Million Community Development/Disaster Recovery Grant
The Southern University Agricultural Research and Extension Center has been awarded a three-year, $1.5 million grant that will provide economic recovery and revitalization of communities that suffered damage as a result of Hurricanes Gustav and Ike.

1/29/2016 SU Shreveport Chancellor Search Committee selects finalists
A Southern University System Board of Supervisors' Chancellor Search Committee, at their last meeting, selected three candidates that will be recommended to lead the Southern University Shreveport campus.

Stephen C. McGuire, professor of physics, Southern University Baton Rouge, recently gave an invited presentation on the 10‐year local partnership in science education between the University and the Laser Interferometer Gravitational-wave Observatory (LIGO).

Fifteen charter members in the fall of 2011 established a new giving society with the potential to generate $1 million annually for the University. The 1880 Society is a cumulative giving initiative where individuals make multi-year pledges to support the University. The goal is to have 1,000 individuals give at least $1,000 per year.
