Tickets are now available for the Southern University Agricultural Research and Extension Center's 1st Annual Scholarship Gala themed, "Sowing Seeds for Future 1890 Scholars: Growing the Next Generation." The gala will be held at L'Auberge Baton Rouge on December 17, 2015, 8 p.m.

The Southern University Ag Center invites the Baton Rouge community to its third annual Fall Gardening Workshop, November 24, 2015. Registration for the event, which is free and includes a healthy lunch, will begin at 8:30 a.m. and the program will start at 9 a.m. inside A. O. Williams Hall - SU Ag Center.

11/19/2015Southern University welcomes South African Ambassador
South African Ambassador Mninwa J. Mahlangu visited Southern University Baton Rouge (SUBR), November 19, 2015, and addressed an assembly at the Nelson Mandela School of Public Policy, in the atrium of Rodney G. Higgins Hall.

11/16/2015SUSLA receives donation from AT&T Louisiana
Southern University Shreveport Division of Community and Workforce Development received a $1,500 donation from AT&T Louisiana to support students enrolled in the University's Adult Education Program. The award was presented at the office of State Senator Gregory Tarver, by David Aubrey, AT&T state director of external affairs.

11/13/2015SULC Marshall-Brennan Constitutional Literacy project features 14 high school students from four area schools
Fourteen students from area high schools (Scotlandville Magnet High School, Glen Oaks High School, and Southern University Laboratory High School) competed in the 7th annual Regional High School Moot Court Competition, November 13-14, 2015, hosted by the Southern University Law Center Marshall-Brennan Constitutional Literacy Project.

Three members of the Southern University New Orleans Lady Knights Volleyball Team took home five awards, and the head coach was honored "Coach of the Year” Thursday, November 12, 2015, at the annual Gulf Coast Athletic Conference (GCAC) Volleyball Awards Banquet.

Southern University Shreveport (SUSLA) honored veterans at the campus'’ annual Veterans Day Tribute Ceremony, November 11, 2015, at  in the Jesse Stone Lecture Hall on the main campus.

Five Southern University students from the Departments of Sociology and Political Science presented research on mass incarceration last week at the Charles Koch Institute in New Orleans.

Fifteen charter members in the fall of 2011 established a new giving society with the potential to generate $1 million annually for the University. The 1880 Society is a cumulative giving initiative where individuals make multi-year pledges to support the University. The goal is to have 1,000 individuals give at least $1,000 per year.
