The Southern University System (SUS) radio show airs on Clear Channel Media and Entertainment's Downtown 97.7 FM on Sunday mornings from 7 a.m. to 8 a.m.

The Southern University Agricultural Research and Extension Center will host the 72nd Annual State Livestock and Poultry Show March 5 - 7, 2015. at the Maurice A. Edmond Livestock Arena in Baton Rouge.

Southern University will celebrate 135 years during its annual celebration March 9, 2015, on the Baton Rogue campus. A full day of events and activities are planned.

The Southern University Centennial Book, 100 Years on the Bluff, can be purchased for $20 at the Office of Media Relations, first floor, J.S. Clark Administration Building, Baton Rouge, with cash, check or credit card.
1/30/2015 SU Ag Center and Farm Service Agency offering producer trainings on New Farm Bill Program
Southern University Ag Center employees along with the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Louisiana Farm Service Agency (FSA) are presenting a series of in-person training opportunities available for Louisiana's producers through the Noninsured Disaster Assistance Program, enacted by the 2014 Farm Bill.

2/4/2015 SU Jaguars National Signing Day celebration, February 4

Southern University head football coach Dawson Odums will unveil the Jaguars' 2015 National Signing Day class during its February 4, 2015, recruitment celebration in the Smith-Brown Memorial Student Union's Royal Cotillion Ballroom on the Baton Rouge campus at 7 p.m.

Admission for next Wednesday's event, which is sponsored by the Southern University Quarterback Club and the Blue and Gold Century Club, is $20 and includes a buffet-style dinner and appearances by the SU varsity cheerleaders. Table sponsorship is also available for $300 per table.

2/20/2015 SUBR Honor College Pinning Ceremony, February 20
The Dolores Margaret Richard Spikes Honors College at Southern University Baton Rouge will hold a Pinning Ceremony to introduce the 2014-2015 Honors College Freshman Class, Friday, February 20, 2015, 6 p.m., in the Royal Cotillion Ballroom of the Smith-Brown Memorial Student Union.

The Rev. Jeremiah Wright, pastor emeritus of Trinity United Church of Christ, in Chicago, Illinois, will speak at 11:30 a.m., Thursday, February 19, 2015, in the Royal Cotillion Ballroom in the Smith-Brown Memorial Student Union on Southern University’s Baton Rouge campus. The event is free and open to the public.

1/24/2015 Former SU bandleader honored at Honda Battle of the Bands
Former Southern University director of bands Lawrence Jackson (pictured), who retired last year, was the 2015 Honda Battle of the Bands Invitational Showcase "Honoree."

The Honda Battle of the Bands, an eight-school band competition that included SU's "Human Jukebox," was held January 24, 2015, in Atlanta in the Georgia Dome.

12/12/2014SU Ag Center project provides food safety training in Armenia
During the week of December 12, 2014, Fatemeh Malekian, professor of nutrition and food science at the Southern University Ag Center provided training on Retail Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) to food handlers in Yerevan, Armenia. HACCP is a preventive system to ensure safe food production.

8/1/2012 SU System Foundation 1880 Society
Fifteen charter members in the fall of 2011 established a new giving society with the potential to generate $1 million annually for the University. The 1880 Society is a cumulative giving initiative where individuals make multi-year pledges to support the University. The goal is to have 1,000 individuals give at least $1,000 per year.
