The Southern University System (SUS) radio show airs on Clear Channel Media and Entertainment's Downtown 97.7 FM on Sunday mornings from 7 a.m. to 8 a.m.

Southern University's Division of Continuing Education is hosting the 14th Annual College Summer Program "2015 Jaguars Kid's Camp," June 1-July 16, on the Baton Rouge campus.

5/9/2015 Former U.S. Sen. Mary Landrieu to serve as SUNO 2015 Commencement speaker, May 9
Mary Landrieu, former U.S. Senator, will serve as the speaker for Southern University New Orleans 2015 Commencement Saturday, May 9, 2015 at 4 p.m. in Kiefer Lakefront Arena.

State Senator and President Pro Tempore of the Senate Sharon Weston Broome will be the 2015 Southern University Baton Rouge commencement speaker. Graduation ceremonies begin at 10:30 a.m., May 8, 2015, in the F.G. Clark Activity Center.

5/9/2015 Walmart executive to address 2015 SULC Commencement, May 9
Claire Babineaux-Fontenot, executive vice president and treasurer at Wal-Mart Stores Incorporated, will deliver the 2015 Commencement address for Southern University Law Center at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 9, 2015, in the F. G. Clark Activity Center on the Southern University Baton Rouge campus.

5/5/2015 First SUNO addictive behaviors counseling class To graduate under new name
The Addictive Behaviors Counseling and Prevention Program of Southern University New Orleans is celebrating its 2015 graduates, the program's first graduating class since it changed its name in 2014.

5/6/2015 Honore' Center beating retention odds
A Southern University System program designed to reverse the trend of fewer African-American male students attending and graduating from college is demonstrating higher than average success in student retention. Data from a recent internal SU System CUSA enrollment and retention status report indicates that the Honore' Center program is associated with an increase in Fall-to-Fall retention in a range of 25 percent to 46 percent.

5/1/2015 Iconic Bayou Classic trophy donated to The Smithsonian
One of the most coveted symbols associated with Black College Football's greatest rivalry will departed the Southern University campus May 1, 2015, and will take permanent residence in our nation's capital. The historic Bayou Classic trophy, which has been presented to the winner of the football game annually for more than 25 years and retired at the conclusion of the 41st Annual event last November, has been donated to the Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture to be part of the museum’s foundational collection.

4/22/2015 Large crowd turn out for SUS Day at the Capitol
Several hundred students, faculty, administrators, alumni and supporters, representing the entire SU System, went to the Louisiana Capitol April 22, 2015, to show solidarity in opposition of threatened budget cuts to higher education.

5/6/2015 Local authors from SU join forces with citizens to create tribute to Scotlandville's history
Telling a story in pictures is Scotlandville, the newest addition to Arcadia Publishing's popular Images of America series. The book by local authors Rachel L. Emanuel, Ruby Jean Simmons, and Charles Vincent is set to release on June 1, 2015. The book contains wonderful vintage images capturing this African-American community’s history.

4/14/2015 Pressure BioSciences to collaborate with SUNO on forensic science program
Pressure BioSciences, Incorporated April 14, 2015, announced it has entered into a collaboration agreement with Southern University New Orleans to focus on improving and extending the applications of the company’s unique and patented pressure cycling technology (PCT) platform for the detection of DNA in forensic samples. The program will be under the direction of Pam Marshall (pictured), interim director, Forensic Science Program and assistant professor, Department of Natural Sciences at SUNO.

4/23/2015 Southern University Wellness Walk teaches 1890 history lesson
In celebration of the 125th Anniversary of the 1890 Morrill Act, the SU community held a wellness walk on Thursday, April 23, 2015. The walk started at 9 a.m. from Pinkie Thrift Hall, through campus and concluded at the Southern University Agricultural Research and Extension Center. The registration fee was $18.90; with all of the proceeds going toward the University’s Justin Morrill Scholarship Fund.

4/29/2015 SU Ag Center holds School Garden Graduation Program for area students
More than 75 students received certificates of completion for participating in the Southern University Ag Center's School Garden Program, April 29.

4/21/2015 SU Ag Center participates in LSU AgMagic event
The Southern University Ag Center partnered with the LSU AgCenter to present AgMagic, an interactive event that teaches children about Louisiana's agriculture through fun exhibits and activities, and its importance to their lives. The event was held April 20-26, 2015, in the LSU Parker Coliseum.

Black males from middle school age to young adulthood listened to the messages from black male community and business leaders during the "State of the Black Male Symposium" held Saturday in the F.G. Clark Activity Center at Southern University Baton Rouge

4/19/2015 SU softball earns fourth straight division series win
Southern University Baton Rouge softball claimed its fourth consecutive division series after defeating Prairie View 7-1 in the series finale April 19, 2015. SU finishes with 9-3 SWAC West division record.

4/12/2015 SU Women’s Tennis Team wins 2015 SWAC tennis title
Number three singles match was the deciding factor as the number one seed, Southern University, claimed their sixth straight Southwestern Athletic Conference Championship April 12, 2015, at the Hilton Riverside Health Club Tennis Facility.

5/6/2015 SU's top Spring 2015 grad headed to Harvard Law School
Daniel Joiner said he knew he had a chance to be the chief student marshal of his 2015 spring graduating class. But, like anything else, he had to see it essentially etched in stone. And, there is another big payoff for the Baker native. Once the 21-year-old leaves Southern, he is on his way to Harvard Law School.

4/14/2015 SUBR professors receive $96,000 grant
Three SUBR professors, Jarrett Landor, assistant professor of education theory, policy and practice, Victor Mbarika, the Houston Alumnae Endowed Professor in the College of Business, and Joycelyn Harrison, associate professor and chair of the educational theory, policy, and practice, have received a. $96,000 two-year grant to create the Southern University Health Information Technology laboratory.

4/21/2015 SUBR students elect new leaders
Just elected Southern University Student Government Association president, and Miss Southern University say they are excited about their newly won positions and are ready to represent the Baton Rouge campus.

The new SGA President-elect is Dominque Diamond, a 22-year-old senior from Kentwood. Miss SU-elect is JaMya Magee, a 21-year-old senior from Bogalusa.

4/21/2015 SUBR students, professor participate in national conference
Southern University Baton Rouge music students participated in the Music Teachers National Association National Conference, March 21-25, 2015, in Las Vegas, where they were one of eight schools selected to make a poster session presentation titled "SUMTA Collegiate Chapter Activities."

5/3/2015 SULC ranks in Top 10 of 'Best Schools for Bar Exam Preparation'
Prelaw Magazine and National Jurist Magazine have named SULC as one of the best schools for bar exam preparation based on the percentage of students who pass the bar despite rather modest predictors based GPA and LSAT scores. SULC finished in the 10th spot in the study. SULC's program is designed to teach students how to maximize their ability to earn points on the essay exam, said SULC professor Shawn D. Vance, who is director of the bar preparation program.

4/23/2015 SUSLA breaks ground on classroom building, day care center
SUSLA and SU System administrators, and community members held a groundbreaking ceremony April 23, 2015, for a new classroom building in more than four decades at SU Shreveport. The ceremony also included groundbreaking for the construction of a $900,000 daycare center to serve students. -Photo Henrietta WIldsmith/The Shreveport Times

1/10/2011 Make a gift to support the Southern University System today

8/1/2012 SU System Foundation 1880 Society
Fifteen charter members in the fall of 2011 established a new giving society with the potential to generate $1 million annually for the University. The 1880 Society is a cumulative giving initiative where individuals make multi-year pledges to support the University. The goal is to have 1,000 individuals give at least $1,000 per year.
