The Southern University System (SUS) radio show airs on Clear Channel Media and Entertainment's Downtown 97.7 FM on Sunday mornings from 7 a.m. to 8 a.m.

The annual "Gala on the Bluff" fundraiser, one of the premier events of Southern University Baton Rouge's homecoming celebration, will be held Friday, October 3, 2014, 8 p.m., at the Belle of Baton Rouge Casino and Hotel. The 2014 headlining musical entertainment will be soul/R&B group TONY! TONI! TONE'!
10/3/2014 SU Alumni Round up, October 3
The Southern University Alumni Federation will hold its 2014 Homecoming Round-Up, Friday, October 3, 2013, 8 p.m., in the Royal Cotillion Ballroom of the Smith-Brown Memorial Student Union.

The annual event will feature entertainer Doug E. Fresh featuring Rebirth Brass Band.

Southern University will host its first "Jags Get Fit 5K Run/Walk" on Sunday, September 21, 2014, from 2 p.m. - 6 p.m., on the Baton Rouge campus.

10/30/2014SULC to host a 25th Anniversary NBA Wiley A. Branton Issues Symposium, October 30-31
SULC will host a 25th Annual National Bar Association Wiley A. Branton Award and Issues Symposium, featuring an opening address by the American Bar Association President-Elect Paulette Brown (pictured) on Wednesday, October 29, 2014. Brown will be the first woman of color to serve as ABA president when her one-year term begins in August 2015.

9/18/2014 Agreement gives BRCC students seamless transfer to SU
Baton Rouge Community College students are now able to seamlessly transfer to Southern University thanks to the new "Bears 2 Jaguars" academic partnership that was signed Thursday, September 18, 2014, at SU Baton Rouge.

9/8/2014 Breakfast kicks off Capital Area United Way Campaign at SUBR
Capital Area United Way President/CEO  Darrin Goss Sr. was speaker at a breakfast in the Magnolia Room of Mayberry Dining Hall at Southern University Baton Rouge, September 8, 2014, to kick off the University's fundraising campaign for the local office of the national non-profit organization.

9/5/2014 National HBCU art show exhibit officially opens
Southern University held a reception September 5, 2014, to officially open the National Alliance of Artists from HBCUs Annual Conference of Juried Exhibition in the Visual Arts Gallery in Frank Hayden Hall.

The event, part of the University’s Centennial Celebration, attracted more than 200 people including many of the artists from historically black colleges and universities around the country. The art includes paintings, original prints, ceramics, sculptures, mixed media, and collages. The exhibition, free and open to the public, runs through October 30, 2014.

9/10/2014 Southern becomes 1st HBCU selected for internationalization lab group
Southern University has become the first Historically Black College to be named to the American Council on Education's 12th International Laboratory Cohort.

9/12/2014 SU Ag Center Back-to-School Summit encouraging to youth
The Southern University Ag Center, September 11, 2014, welcomed students, faculty, and staff from schools in Acadia, Allen, Avoyelles, Evangeline, Lafayette, Pointe Coupee, St. Landry, St. Martin, and Vermillion Parishes to its 14th Back-to-School Summit for eight graders at the Blackham Coliseum in Lafayette.  The event themed "Healthy Actions Produce Positive Youth" featured Danna Andrus "Dr. Truth" (pictured) serving as keynote speaker.

9/16/2014 SU Lab School 6th graders have successful 'egg-periment'
SU Laboratory School six-grade students recently got an up close and fun look at engineering, mathematics, team work, physics, and money thanks to volunteers from the Raytheon Company.

9/12/2014 SU professor spends summer around the world
Over the summer Southern University Baton Rouge's Joao Paulo Casarotti, assistant professor of piano and piano pedagogy and coordinator of keyboard, spent time traveling the globe to perform, teach, present lectures and recruit students to Southern's music program.

9/12/2014 SU's Cade library going through nearly $2 million in repairs
Crews have begun work on $1.9 million in repairs and renovations at Southern University Baton Rouge's John B. Cade Library. The library received considerable wind and water damage during Hurricane Gustav in 2008.

Gustav damaged all of the floors, except the first floor in the 154,000-square-foot library. Windows were blown out or dislodged, resulting in water soaked carpets and other water-related damage, said Emma Perry, dean of libraries. - Photo Naville Oubre III

9/18/2014 SUNO commemorates restoration
After nine years, multiple moves, a building demolition, 45 FEMA trailers, three new buildings and three building renovations, Southern University New Orleans is restored to full capacity for the first time since Hurricane Katrina inundated the campus with water.
The University commemorated this milestone Thursday, September18, 2014, on the front lawn of the Emmett. W. Bashful Administration Building.

8/1/2012 SU System Foundation 1880 Society
Fifteen charter members in the fall of 2011 established a new giving society with the potential to generate $1 million annually for the University. The 1880 Society is a cumulative giving initiative where individuals make multi-year pledges to support the University. The goal is to have 1,000 individuals give at least $1,000 per year.
