Tickets are now available for the Southern University Agricultural Research and Extension Center's 1st Annual Scholarship Gala themed, "Sowing Seeds for Future 1890 Scholars: Growing the Next Generation." The gala will be held at L'Auberge Baton Rouge on December 17, 2015, 8 p.m.

The Building Opportunities through Leadership Development (BOLD) Project is now accepting applications for the 2015-2016 session. Classes will begin on Saturday, October 17, 2015, for registered participants.

The Southern University Ag Center has teamed up with the American Heart Association (AHA) and the Amerigroup Foundation to host the 2015 Hands-Only CPR Mobile Tour in the Capital Area on October 13, 2015, in the rear parking lot of the SU Ag Center, 181 B.A. Little Drive.

9/25/2015 SU System announces new executive VP for academic affairs and provost
The Southern University System (SUS) today selected M. Christopher Brown II as the new executive vice president for academic affairs and provost. Brown has more than 10 years of experience in higher education administration including serving as president of Alcorn State University in Mississippi, and as executive vice president and provost at Fisk University in Tennessee.

The Louisiana Board of Regents today approved Southern University New Orleans' (SUNO) proposal to offer a Doctor of Social Work program (DSW), the Universityís first doctoral program.

Two separate search committees comprised of a diverse group of faculty, staff, students, alumni, and stakeholders will screen applicants and select finalists for two SU System campus chancellors.

The Center for International Affairs hosted an international student meet and greet September 23, 2015, at noon in the Wesley Foundation. More than 50 SU international students had the opportunity to meet students originally from India, Turkey, Cameroon, Nigeria and Uganda.

9/18/2015 SU Ag Center holds graduation ceremony for nationally recognized Small Farmer Ag Leadership Institute
Nineteen participants from Louisiana, Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Texas were honored during a graduation ceremony on Friday, September 18, 2015, for completing their two-year course of study in the Southern University Ag Center's Small Farmer Agricultural Leadership Institute.

Southern University Baton Rouge senior, Fallon Marquez, recently returned from a six-week Center for Urban Teaching (CfUT) internship Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She experienced teaching kindergarten through eighth grade students in urban areas.

Fifteen charter members in the fall of 2011 established a new giving society with the potential to generate $1 million annually for the University. The 1880 Society is a cumulative giving initiative where individuals make multi-year pledges to support the University. The goal is to have 1,000 individuals give at least $1,000 per year.
