Southern University System expands outreach with video site

Southern University System is using video commerce technology to highlight its transformation to a model 21st Century System of Higher Education, and to engage alumni and stakeholders. The University has partnered with Cinsay to introduce the SU System Smart Store.
"We are pleased to provide easy access so our alumni and stakeholders can connect with us and provide critical support using this state-of-the-art video commerce technology,” said Ronald Mason Jr., SU System President.
The SUS Smart Store Video showcases photos of students, campus events, as well as offering viewers the ability to make a donation directly to the University inside the video player. There are also links to social media, information, online degree programs, and more.
Students and alumni can share the video and donation features through Facebook and Twitter, or pass along to friends and family through email and on mobile.
Part of that promotional push will help raise much-needed funds for SU System students' support and scholarships through the SU System Foundation.
Timing for raising private funds for the University is critical. For the past five years, the state support to the SU System has been cut more than $50 million.
"Finding creative ways to increase support for Southern has taken on greater importance in recent years as state funding has been dramatically cut. Students currently contribute more to the cost of their education than does the state," added Mason.
