The Louisiana Small Business Development Center at Southern University and the U.S. Small Business Administration will host its first Louisiana Small Business Veterans Conference on July 31, 2014.

The conference is for existing businesses and those individuals who are interested in starting a business. The event will be held from 8 a.m. to noon at the Louisiana Capital Area Chapter of the American Red Cross, 4655 Sherwood Common Boulevard.

The purpose of this conference is to provide training and assistance to the veteran small business community; provide information on financial assistance available to veterans; link these businesses with federal procurement agents who have veteran-owned small business goals; and allow attendees to participate in a lenders roundtable to identify the best loan product for their respective business needs.

The training portion of the conference will provide information on completing required registrations, applying for various certifications. Additionally, there will be information provided that focuses on identifying contract opportunities.
