SUNO's West Bank campus up and running; preliminary enrollment figures show increase
- 8/30/2013 -
For the first time, students who reside on the West Bank are able to
attend courses at Southern University New Orleans (SUNO) without
crossing the river. Nearly 160 students began attending evening classes
August 19, 2013, at SUNO's West Bank Satellite Campus, which is housed
in the Landry-Walker High School building in Algiers.
Additionally, more than 80 Landry-Walker students are taking college courses at the Satellite Campus through SUNO's Early Start program, which is available to high school students who meet the University's Early Start program admissions criteria. Given the proximity of the course offerings, the 80 students represent the highest number of students from any one high school that participates in SUNO's Early Start program.
SUNO's overall enrollment remains poised to move closer to its
pre-Katrina numbers. The preliminary Fall 2013 enrollment is 3,391.
