The Jaguar Nation gearing up for the 19th Annual Southern
University System Radiothon, set for Friday, October 16, 2009.This annual homecoming tradition will be held
from
7 a.m. until 7 p.m. at Citadel Broadcasting (650 Wooddale Blvd.)
and will be aired live on three stations powered by Citadel Broadcasting – KQXL
106.5 FM, WEMX 94.1 FM, and WXOK 1460 AM.
All proceeds from the 2009 Radiothon will support the “Scholars of Promise
Initiatives,” which will place ‘Students 1st’ in terms of
scholarships, assistantships and youth programs. The Scholars of Promise
Initiatives is a general scholarship fund governed by an independent advisory
board composed of SU faculty and staff.In addition, the SUS Foundation will waive all fees associated with the
Radiothon.
"The Southern University System Foundation is extremely pleased with the
support that the community has provided past Radiothon’s, and this year we are
taking a slightly different approach," said Executive Director of the SU
System Foundation, Dr. Ernie T. Hughes. “We want to make certain that students are
first; therefore we will make sure that we are accountable for all proceeds and
that students ultimately receive the benefits.”
