The SU Marching Band will be featured during the first game of the New Orleans Hornets.  Opening Night Powered by Toyota, is set for this Friday, October 30, 2009 at the New Orleans Arena.  Tipoff will begin at 7 pm  against the Sacramento Kings.  The sounds of the Human Jukebox will be heard during player introductions, along with a spectacular half-time performance.  

"We are excited that the Southern University Marching Band will be a part of the excitement of our Opening Night Powered by Toyota," said Hornets Owner George Shinn.  "We are committed to providing world-class entertainment to our fans, and we know everyone at the Hive will enjoy the performance by the SU Jaguar band during player introductions and halftime.  This will be a great way to tip-off the 2009-10 season!" 

Prior to the game, the Buzz Fest block party sponsored by Zatarain's will take place on Girod Street in front of the Arena at 5:30 p.m. This includes live music, food, interactive games and inflatables for the kids, appearances by Hugo and the Honeybees, and much more.
