Dear Fellow Southernites,

I am honored and grateful to serve as your national alumni president. This wonderful opportunity that allows me to continue my service as an active alumnus in the top office, is truly humbling.

Please join me in applauding Mr. Domoine Rutledge for his influential leadership during the last four years at the helm of the Southern University Alumni Federation and for providing support to our beloved alma mater at a critical time. I also want to acknowledge all past presidents whose service has paved the way for us to benefit from a strong alumni organization.
 
This job is about what we can achieve by working together. Therefore, your help is needed! With your participation and support, we can reach out to graduates from across the country. We will sponsor activities to attract younger alumni as well as to sustain the founding principles of our organization. We will work closely with the University’s leadership and administration to keep the lines of communication between the University and alumni open.
 
The future of the Southern University System is our shared responsibility. We must unite and rally behind the cause and be unrelenting in our efforts to ensure its existence for generations. The Southern University: Today…Always campaign that began last year, will be an ongoing movement to strengthen and carry the University’s message to all parts of the globe. A message that says we believe the words so eloquently written by R. E. Brown in 1930, "O Southern, Dear Southern, we owe our all to thee…”

This year is expected to be one of our best ever for the Federation! Our goals are high and our momentum is strong. I welcome your thoughts and ideas on how we can advance as an organization and better serve the University. Here’s a question to ask yourself, "If you were accused of being a loyal, faithful, and committed alumnus of Southern University would there be enough evidence to convict you?”  Please be convicted along with me.
