Twenty-year-old Dallas, Texas native Demetrius Sumner is Southern University, Baton Rouge's Student Government Association president and is the student member on the Louisiana Board of Regents.

Sumner, an outspoken leader in the name of advancing Southern and higher education funding during a time of ongoing budget cuts for colleges, aspires to be a politician in the future but his current focus is on helping Southern and Louisiana's other colleges and universities.
