The Southern University System
continues to observe its annual Founders' Day to commemorate 132 years
of providing educational opportunities to students from across the
globe. The theme for the 2012 commemoration is "Renaissance Southern
University: Strengthening Our Gift of a Strong Foundation."
The University was founded in New Orleans in 1880 and relocated to Baton Rouge in 1914.
SU Law Center Founders' Day Exhibit
As
part of the Southern University's 132nd Founders' Day celebration, the
Southern University Law Center is hosting an exhibit on the first floor
of A. A. Lenoir Hall.
The focus of the exhibit is the
law school's founding faculty, A. A. Lenoir (who was also the first
dean); Vanue B. Lacour; Edward L. Patterson; and Thomas S. E. Brown. The
exhibit, which will run through Wednesday, March 14, also will
highlight the first librarian and the first students. Posters, archival
photographs, articles, video materials, and other artifacts will capture
the spirit of the founding of the Law Center. Please join us as we pay
tribute to these men and women who helped build Southern University into
what it is today.
