About the Southern University at New Orleans 

Founded in 1956, Southern University at New Orleans is an urban, selective admissions, liberal arts university serving New Orleans and the surrounding areas.  It is one of the five campuses comprising the Historically Black Southern University and A&M College System.  SUNO has a total student enrollment of approximately 2,704, 326 full – and part-time employees and grants approximately 450 degrees annually.  A 97-member full-time faculty offers 17 undergraduate degrees and an expanding number of master’s degrees programs in specialized areas, and a soon-to-be doctorate in Social Work. SUNO’s annual operating budget is approximately $34.6 million and its physical plant is located on 60 acres consisting of the Park and Lake campuses, and land valued at $6.3 million (land and buildings valued at $102.6) million.

SUNO is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools and is classified by the Southern Region Education Board as a level III institution to offer the associate, bachelors and masters degrees.
