to the System Office of the Vice President for Academic
and Student Affairs. We thank you for your interest and
extend our invitation to you to explore offerings of the
Southern University System (SUS) and links to our five campuses.
The SU System is the nation’s only Historically Black 1890
Land Grant University System. We are currently making positive
progress in recapturing and growing our enrollment in spite
of the disastrous hurricanes of 2005.
With
strong devotion, dedication and a commitment to excellence
we are resolved to remaining the largest HBCU in the nation
that offers the highest standards of education. We are not
only experiencing growth but also attracting better-prepared
students in light of the newly adopted selective admissions
criteria at our Baton Rouge campus.
Our
academic enterprise is thriving as we are involved in many
initiatives that enhance pedagogical experiences, program
review, assessment and accountability. Presently, the accreditation
rate for all Board of Regents’ mandatory accreditable academic
programs within the System is 97%. The SU System campuses’
accreditation rates continue to remain at a high level with
each year reflecting improvements.
The System continues to work vigorously to accomplish 100%
accreditation of all mandatory programs. We believe that
such attainment is one way that allows us to ensure academic
quality of the programs we are offering our students.
