The Office of the Vice President for Academic and
Student Affairs provides leadership oversight to the
academic areas of all institutions within the Southern University and
Agricultural & Mechanical College System and to coordinate institutional
research at the system level. Efficient and effective leadership at this
level enhances the reality that broad-based access to educational
opportunities and services will accrue to the people of the State of
Louisiana and others throughout the world. The Office of the Vice President
seeks to ensure that a complete range of academic, professional, and
postgraduate degree programs are offered which will prepare students to
compete globally in their chosen professions, to pursue advanced studies,
and to aid society in addressing its educational, scientific, technological,
economic, and cultural needs.
The System Vice President for Academic and Student
Affairs supports system-wide planning, policy development, and evaluation
through research and analysis. The Office of the Vice President also collects
data and disseminates statistical reports for internal and external use.
The Office of the Vice President develops and/or
contributes to special research reports relating to higher education,
especially on topics such as enrollment trends, compensation and pay equity,
financial analyses, retention, and graduation rates. It supports a wide
spectrum of research and evaluation activities within the Southern University
System and collaborates with external entities. This includes producing
legislatively mandated reports and meeting Board of Regents’ reporting
and states’ accountability requirements.
The Office of the Vice President is also responsible
for disseminating information to state and federal agencies and to other
external organizations interested in data collection and reporting.
