The Southern University System is committed to aiding
student development, leadership skills and the promotion of ethical
standards through System guided programs and activities which may occur in
formal or informal settings. Student Affairs responsibilities and
functions include the coordination of student activities and major
initiatives for all Southern University System campuses. The Office of
the Vice President for Academic and Student Affairs overseas relational
activities with various state and regional agencies.
The System Advisor to the Student Government
Association/Student Bar Association (SGA/SBA) Presidents is housed within
the Office of the Vice President for Academic and Student Affairs. The
SGA/SBA Presidents are members of the Louisiana Council of Student Body
Presidents (COSBP).
COSBP represents the more than 200,000 students statewide in such areas as;
student leadership and policy development for higher education.
System campuses, by way of Student Government
Association and Student Bar Association representatives, are members of the
Advisory Council for Student Affairs. The representatives are active
partners in collaborative discussion and proactive issues concerning student
life throughout our campuses.
