Coca-Cola relief effort funds 40 scholarships in Louisiana
The Coca-Cola Foundation has given three Louisiana universities and the Southern University system $200,000 in scholarships as part of its post-Katrina recovery effort.
Dillard, Grambling State and Xavier universities and the Southern University System, which has campuses in New Orleans, Shreveport, and Baton Rouge, will each pick 10 students to receive $5,000, said Ingrid Saunders Jones, the foundation's chairwoman, who made the announcement during the Essence Music Festival in New Orleans
"We are inspired by the perseverance of those affected by Hurricane
Katrina who remain steadfast in the journey to complete
their education," Jones said.
