Chancellor's Public Service Initiative recipients named

Eleven Southern University Law Center (SULC) students were awarded stipends in the Chancellor's Public Service Initiative for summer 2007. A special orientation for the students was held Tuesday, May 22, by the Office of Career Counseling and Development.

The students and their summer internship assignments are Kimberly Brown (2L), Capital Area Legal Services Corporation; David Cougle (3L), Lebanon Intervarsity Fellowship; Shereece Dendy (2L), Legal Aid of Nebraska; LaDonna Jackson (2L), Orange County Public Defender; Malik Lee (2L), Neighborhood Legal Services of Los Angeles County; April-Michelle Leon (3L), EBR Parish District Attorney's Office; Yodit Tewolde (2L), U.S. Department of Justice/Community Relations Service; LyTanya Toomer (3L), Louisiana Bar Foundation's Pro Bono Legal Corps; Daphne Trevathan (3L), Capital Area Legal Services Corporation; LaKetha Walker (2L), Federation of Southern Cooperatives; and Jessica Welch (2L), Legal Services of North Louisiana.
