Law Center announces 60th anniversary plans at Alumni Conference

"Remembering the Past, Responding to the Present, Reaching Toward the Future was the theme of the 2007 Southern University National Alumni Conference, July 11-15, in Memphis, Tennessee. This SU System-wide alumni event provided the perfect venue for the Law Center's kick-off of its 60th Anniversary celebration.

Chancellor Freddie Pitcher Jr., welcomed alumni and friends at a reception Thursday, July 12, in the Ridgelake Room of the Hilton Memphis.

"We successfully reconnected with more than 25 alumni and other supporters living and practicing in the Memphis area and announced plans for the 60th anniversary of the Law Center this fall," Chancellor Pitcher said. O.C. Lewis spearheaded the local arrangements for this effort.

The Law Center's anniversary will include a five-month media extravaganza that will highlight the accomplishments of its graduates who have been champions of civil rights and justice. It will culminate with a November gala in Baton Rouge.

Co-chairs for the Anniversary Steering Committee are Wanda Henton Brown chair and CEO of Lloyd Bridge Advisory Corporation, New York; and Brace B. Godfrey Jr., CEO of Cyntreniks, LLP, and managing partner of Godfrey and Schneider LTD., of Baton Rouge.
