Gail Stephenson,
Southern University Law Center director of legal writing,
was a plenary speaker at the Lone Star Legal Writing
Conference, held June 1 in Fort Worth, Texas. Stephenson
presented on the topic, "Keeping It Real: Developing
A Culturally and Personally Relevant Legal Writing
Curriculum."
She moderated a panel discussion on
Integrating Equity Pedagogy in the Classroom at the
Association of Legal Writing Directors 2007 Biennial
Conference on Best Practices in Teaching, Management,
and Scholarship, June 16, in Denver, Colorado. On
July 13, Stephenson spoke on legal writing at the
Baton Rouge Bar Association's Sizzlin' Summer CLE
in Baton Rouge
Brenda Wesley Jackson,
director of Title III programs at Southern University,
New Orleans, has been elected vice president of the
National Association of HBCU Title III Administrators
for 2007-09. Title III refers to a category of federal
programs designed to aid historically black colleges
and universities, as well as colleges for Native Americans,
Alaskans and Hawaiians.
