Black Tie Affair: Presenters celebrate positives of museum
Presenters at Saturday's 21st annual Black Tie Affair echoed the theme of unity in a community celebration of the completed Tangipahoa African-American Heritage Museum and Black Veterans Archives.
“We are here to celebrate and protect the past and celebrate the potential of this project for the future,” said Vivian Kerr, mistress of ceremonies and director of Southern University System museums. “We have come a long way and everyone has worked very hard to create this project and this event.”
Kerr, involved with the Hammond project for the past year, called the museum a one of a kind endeavor “designed to better our community and contribute positive results for all people, not just black people but all people.”
