SUBR hosts business partnering opportunity meeting
On July 25, 2007, SUBR hosted representatives from the National Great Rivers Research and Education Center (NGRREC) to further explore the possibility of establishing a partnership with NGRREC which is an entity of Lewis and Clark Community College in Godfrey, Illinois.
The proposed partnership would actually be between the Center for Energy and Environmental Studies (CEES) and NGRREC. Both institutions where these centers are housed are located on the bluff of the Mississippi River. The focus of the partnership would be on conducting research in the areas of ecology, biology entomology, and other environmentally driven areas. In addition, student internships and faculty exchange opportunities could also be a part of the partnership.
Dale Chapman, president of the Lewis and Clark, Gary Rolfe, executive director of NGRREC, and three other colleagues traveled to SUBR for the visit.
The lead persons on the Baton Rouge Campus for this project are Michael Stubblefield, interim vice chancellor for research and strategic initiatives and Samuel Washington, interim director of CEES. Faculty from the Urban Forestry Program, the College of Engineering, and the College of Business would also be involved. In addition, Press Robinson and Morgan Watson, former SU Professors, are also lending their support for this project.
