SU to offer film class for adults and youth

Southern University’s Division of Continuing Education will offer a Basic Film Acting Class for those who desire to be in the movies. The classes are part of the division’s Community Outreach Project and are designed to assist the novice with basic information on auditioning.

A session for children and youth will be held on September 13, from 6 p.m, to 9 p.m.

“Since there is a great deal of interest in the Baton Rouge area by filmmakers, we wanted to offer a course that would help our community members to prepare themselves to become involved,” Dr. Barbara W. Carpenter, Director of Continuing Education. Carpenter said her office will be offering other courses in the film industry throughout the summer. “We are excited about this opportunity and it is our hope that the community will take advantage of this opportunity,” she added.

Students participating in these classes will have the opportunity to receive tapes of their work in the class and assistance with their portfolios including how to get the best photograph.
