Slaughter lecture opens MLK exhibit at WBR museum
A special photographic exhibit is being featured at the West Baton Rouge Museum, 845 N. Jefferson Avenue in Port Allen. The exhibit, "Martin Luther King Jr. Remembered: Photographs by Flip Schulke," opened January 6 with a reception and lecture by Southern University System President Ralph Slaughter and a showing of the Schulke interview. The exhibit will continue through March 30.
The presentation makes mention in a taped interview that Belafonte established a college trust fund for King's four children shortly before King was assassinated. The year 2008 will mark the 40th anniversary of both the assassination and the museum.
