College of Business earns high marks from accreditation team

The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) has reaffirmed accreditation of SU’s College of Business for six additional years through 2012-2013.

AACSB accreditation represents the highest standard of achievement for business schools and documents the college’s commitment to high-caliber teaching, faculty scholarship, and the production of quality graduates.

“I feel great about the accreditation,” said Donald Andrews, dean, College of Business. “It’s kind of like all the work that we put into the program received validation from the accrediting body.”

The accreditation team commended the college in several areas including:

  • The development and implementation of an effective assessment process to assure student learning
  • An excellent process for mentoring new faculty, and a systematic program of continuous faculty development
  • A student leadership’s ability to aptly serve as representatives of the business programs at Southern and demonstrate the benefit of a focused educational experience
  • The ability of the College of Business to provide technology for the educational process through its trading room, communications laboratory and computer laboratories
  • The dedication of the faculty to the goals and mission of the department and high quality and continuous improvement.
