Renowned family therapist featured at one of three wellness fairs

Family therapist Ken Hardy

Ken Hardy, nationally recognized family therapist appeared at one of the three-campus sites of the first system-wide health fair Wednesday in New Orleans, Shreveport and Baton Rouge. Hardy was the featured speaker for the Southern University, New Orleans event at on the Lake Campus at 6801 Press Drive. All three health fairs were free and open to the public.

Each event was coordinated by the vice chancellor for student affairs of the three campuses. Participants received free HIV/AIDS testing and screenings for cholesterol, diabetes, blood pressure, stress, anxiety, and depression.

Hardy is a professor of family therapy, director of clinical training and research as well as the chair of the department of child and family studies at Syracuse University. He has been featured on "The Oprah Winfrey Show," ABC's "20/20," "Dateline NBC," and PBS. The SUNO fair is in its second year.

The SUNO wellness fair also featured entertainment for the family. There was music featuring the SUNO Gospel Choir and stand-up comedy by SUNO student Markeith Phillips.
