Stadium construction project in full swing

Work to expand and upgrade A.W. Mumford Stadium is underway. The 18-month project is part of the $60 million SU System Foundation bond project that when finished will include a north end zone enclosure that will add about $2,500 seats to the stadium and a new football complex.

The $60 million bond project, the first in the University's history, also will provide funds for construction of new buildings like the recently opened apartment-style dormitories at Southern University, Baton Rouge. The purchase of facilities, renovation of existing buildings, and infrastructure improvements throughout the System, are planned.

In addition to the stadium expansion, much of the work will greatly impact and enhance other athletic facilities including renovations and additions to Lee Hines Baseball Field and Roscoe Moore Track and Field, and construction of a 75,000 square foot student intramural sports facility.

Students this spring moved into the newly constructed apartment-style dormitories at Southern University, Baton Rouge. The new housing facility is part of the SU System Foundation $60 million bond project..
