SUNO coach makes Jamaican National team as program sheds adversity

The Southern University, New Orleans (SUNO) Men's Track and Field program has suffered the same post-Katrina setbacks as most local programs yet this season they have roared back into the regional collegiate track and field spotlight.

The team competed February 25 at the LSU Twilight Invitational and will be moving on to three more meets, including the NAIA national competition in Johnson City, Tennessee, last month.

Another SUNO Track and Field newsmaker has been the team's coach, Yhann Plummer, who has just won a spot on the Jamaican National Team for track and field. He competed unattached at LSU after placing first in the 60 meter dash at the University of Houston's Bayou City Classic and All-Comers meets. Plummer ran unattached in those competitions, as well.

Plummer graduated from SUNO with a 3.0 GPA in criminal justice in 2006. As a student athlete he earned NAIA All-American status eight times.
