SUNO Basketball to continue home games at Delgado until Castle is rebuilt

The SUNO Knights and Lady Knights have started the basketball season, but still look forward to returning to "The Castle" on the Southern University, New Orleans South Campus. As the facility nears completion, the historic Pontchartrain Park HBCU will play its home games at Delgado Community College's Michael L. Williamson Complex until The Castle is ready. The Castle was one of 11 buildings destroyed by flood waters from both Hurricanes Katrina and Rita.

"I would like to thank Tommy Smith (Delgado's Athletic Director) and the Delgado administration for everything they have done for us," said Athletic Director and the Lady Knights' head coach, Elston King.

Gulf Coast Athletic Conference play will begin on January 3 when the Knights and Lady Knights will take on Tougaloo College in New Orleans. The Knights won the opener against Philander Smith College 91-83 in Little Rock, and later lost to Auburn-Montgomery 77-105. The Lady Knights lost their opener to Philander Smith 62-68.
