Southern trio honored as heroes after helping motorist
A trio of Southern University students
helped restore Ashlee L. Menke’s faith following their
acts of kindness amid a near life-threatening accident.
Menke’s car broke down on northbound
Interstate 110 as she followed her husband to Baton
Rouge Metro Airport on Oct. 18. Her husband, not realizing
her car had stalled, had to exit and re-enter the
interstate. In the meantime, Menke said she feared
the worst as other vehicles flew past her with none
stopping to help out.“I sat crying and praying that
an accident would be avoided,” she said.
Her prayer was answered shortly when
the students, who were en route to school following
a church service, stopped to help push her car onto
the Mohican and Wyandotte exit ramp off the interstate.
