Counseling Center presents alcohol awareness events, speaker

The Southern University Counseling Center (UCC) is observing National Collegiate Alcohol Awareness Week October 22-24. The culminating event for the week will be on October 24, at 11 a.m.in the Smith-Brown Cotillion Ballroom, and will feature a presentation by Sarah Panzau, an alcohol-related-accident survivor. Mockler Beverage Company, one of the sponsors for Alcohol Awareness Week, is making it possible for the UCC to have Panzau at Southern University.

Panzau was severely injured while drinking and driving and she tells her story during a powerful 50-minute presentation. The UCC is requesting that the Southern University community, including students, faculty and staff, come out to attend Panzau's interactive presentation. Organizers hope that this presentation coupled with other Alcohol Awareness Week activities will increase our community's awareness about the negative effects of alcohol abuse.
