Southern University receives a $28,900 award from ExxonMobil Corporation

The ExxonMobil Corporation awarded Southern University, Baton Rouge $28,900 in funding during the university's annual Fall Career Day in mid-August with $10,000 of the award earmarked for the College of Engineering.

The unrestricted grants allow departments to allocate the money for various educational purposes, including scholarships, field trips, visiting speakers, equipment purchases, student and faculty travel to academic-related activities and other educational projects.

"Supporting higher education has always been a strong priority for ExxonMobil," said Tom Marcotte, Global Recruiting Organization, ExxonMobil. "This program enables us to provide funding to colleges and universities who play a pivotal role in preparing students to enter the workforce. ExxonMobil is proud to provide support to the Southern University Baton Rouge campus which will help to enhance departments whose academic focus aligns with the workforce needs of ExxonMobil."

ExxonMobil's award to Southern University was a portion of $1.7 million in contributions in departmental grants to 84 colleges and universities across the country to support various academic programs.
