Psychology major crowned Miss Southern

Miss Southern is a year-round job for the young women who hold the crown, so Jasmine Smutherman's reign as the school's homecoming queen is just starting.

Smutherman donned her gown and crown during the Southern versus Alabama A&M game and the senior psychology major already has become an adviser to her fellow students and a leading advocate for one of the school's favorite causes.
