Director of Finance & Federal Programs
This position is located at the Southern University Laboratory School
Job Description:
The Director of Finance & Federal programs is responsible for planning, directing and controlling financial functions for the district by following policies and procedures and in accordance with Federal and State legislation and polices (LDOE & SUS). This includes preparing the budget(s); conducting financial analysis and preparing financial reports; developing and implementing an effective system of accounting. He/she must manage the financial system while maintaining and overseeing accurate financial records.
Minimal Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance. CPA or MBA preferred.
- Eight years of previous work experience of public or government accounting experience, and demonstrate knowledge of financial reporting and budgeting, payroll, procurement, and internal controls.
- Proven experience with accounting, budgeting, forecasting, cashflow management, financial reporting, calculating variances, and contract negotiations.
- Proficiency in using QuickBooks, EGMS, Banner (equivalent) Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial analysis
