Student Services Coordinator

Job Description:

  • Advise all education majors and minors regarding academic matters, such as course selection and registration, course overrides, course sequencing, and academic plan development according to major area of
  • Identify current and potential needs or problem areas (e.g., study skills, tutoring) and refer students to appropriate campus resources for
  • Advise all education majors and minors regarding access to academic and social supports, including but not limited to Praxis preparation, academic tutoring and other supports, and university and community health/mental health
  • Meet regularly with faculty and coordinators in the department to monitor and document student progress, complete tasks to maintain and improve the Quality Assurance System and maintain accreditation.
  • Create action plans and interventions, review student data, as well as executing short- and long-term goals for students. Keep accurate and detailed records of student files Excel, Teams, DegreeWorks, Banner, etc.
  • Support the holistic development of students by assisting them in planning a program consistent with their abilities and
  • Meet with students and perspective students to provide accurate, current curricula information on undergraduate and graduate programs in the
  • Monitor the progress of students in the department to improve graduation and retention rates by meeting with them 3-4 times per semester to discuss progress, needs, degree requirements, and other performance indicators and track all students and maintain data for reporting purposes. Student advising meetings will take place virtually and in person; will be individual, in small groups, during class meetings, and during larger convocations; and will empower students to actively participate in advising processes.
  • Interpret and explain college and university policies and procedures; participates in preparation of meetings, convocations, etc. and presents academic information to new students in introductory education courses.
  • Develop and maintain healthy, collaborative relationships with the Dean, Director, Chair, faculty, coordinators, and staff in the School of

Minimal Qualifications:

Master's degree required. Preference accorded to degrees and/or experience related to Education/Teacher Preparation, Higher Education, Education Leadership, and/or Counseling.
