Archivist

Job Description:

  • Organize and process archival collections according to professional standards
  • Prepare finding aids, inventories, and metadata to ensure accessibility of archival materials
  • Implement preservations strategies for physical and digital collections, including proper storage, handling, and environmental monitoring
  • Recommend conservation treatments and coordinate digitization
  • Assist faculty, students, and external researchers with accessing and using archival materials and library resources, and assist at the Ask Here Information Desk
  • Respond to inquiries, provide consultations, and conduct research workshops on archival resources
  • Develop exhibits, presentations, and digital displays to highlight archival holdings
  • Collaborate with faculty to integrate archives into teaching and learning
  • Assist with digitization efforts and digital asset management system
  • Support access to online archival collections and contribute to institutional repositories
  • Prepare reports, statistics, and documentation related to archival activities
  • Engage in professional development, research, and service to the university and archival profession
  • Supervise and train student workers or interns assisting in archival operations
  • Work closely with library departments, faculty, and campus units to support academic programs
  • Participate in grant writing and project development to support archival growth and sustainability

Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree in Library and Information Science required
  • Archives certification or coursework preferred
  • Minimum of two years’ experience working in an archive, museum, or related setting
