Archivist
Job Description:
- Organize and process archival collections according to professional standards
- Prepare finding aids, inventories, and metadata to ensure accessibility of archival materials
- Implement preservations strategies for physical and digital collections, including proper storage, handling, and environmental monitoring
- Recommend conservation treatments and coordinate digitization
- Assist faculty, students, and external researchers with accessing and using archival materials and library resources, and assist at the Ask Here Information Desk
- Respond to inquiries, provide consultations, and conduct research workshops on archival resources
- Develop exhibits, presentations, and digital displays to highlight archival holdings
- Collaborate with faculty to integrate archives into teaching and learning
- Assist with digitization efforts and digital asset management system
- Support access to online archival collections and contribute to institutional repositories
- Prepare reports, statistics, and documentation related to archival activities
- Engage in professional development, research, and service to the university and archival profession
- Supervise and train student workers or interns assisting in archival operations
- Work closely with library departments, faculty, and campus units to support academic programs
- Participate in grant writing and project development to support archival growth and sustainability
Qualifications:
- Master’s Degree in Library and Information Science required
- Archives certification or coursework preferred
- Minimum of two years’ experience working in an archive, museum, or related setting
