JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Instructor – Health & Physical Education is responsible for teaching undergraduate courses in health, wellness, and physical education and contributing to departmental and School of Education initiatives
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Teach undergraduate courses in health and physical education, including but not limited to Foundations of Health and Physical Education and Personal and Community Health.
- Develop syllabi, lesson plans, and instructional materials aligned with departmental standards and state certification requirements.
- Maintain accurate records of student performance, provide timely feedback, and ensure fair and consistent assessment.
- Utilize evidence-based instructional practices that foster student engagement and success.
- Participate in curriculum review, program assessment, and accreditation activities (CAEP, LDOE, SACSCOC).
- Collaborate with colleagues within the Department of Curriculum & Instruction and the School of Education to strengthen educator preparation programs.
- Attend departmental, School of Education, and university meetings as required.
- Contribute to service at the department, school, and university levels.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master’s degree in health, physical education, kinesiology, or a closely related field from an accredited institution.
- Documented experience in teaching health and/or physical education at the K-12 and/or college level.
- Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Commitment to preparing diverse candidates for effective teaching in schools and communities
