SUAREC | Part-Time Automotive Tech | Position: Part-Time | Salary: $17.18 - $30.92 per hour | Application Deadline: December 8, 2025

 

Job Description:

This position will not exceed 20 hours per week. The Automotive Tech will work on tractors and small mechanical equipment. There will be some emergency work when the equipment breaks down, but most work will be done during the winter months, or as it is called for. The overall function of this position is to maintain and/or make repairs to a variety of tractors and farm equipment. This position is located at the lab farm and will report directly to the farm manager. The incumbent must be self-motivated and oversee both light and heavy mobile equipment or complex mechanical systems on equipment, and be able to perform duties with or without minimal supervision and be able to interpret unforeseen conditions as they arise.

Minimum Qualifications:

Minimal 5 years of experience or training as a mechanic on farm equipment and tractor repair. To perform routine preventive maintenance and repair of tractors and farm equipment. Supervision is direct from the farm manager. Location will be at the SU Lab Farm. Duties will not exceed 20 hours per week; work on tractors and equipment as called for. There will be some emergency work when the equipment breaks down, but most work will be done during the winter months.
