SUAREC | Assistant Professor, Horticulture Research | Position: Full-Time Unclassified-Tenure Track | Salary Range: $70,000 - $80,000 | Application Deadline: March 31, 2026
Job Description:
This is a 12-month tenure-track Assistant Professor position in ornamental horticulture, designed to establish a strong research program addressing critical challenges and opportunities in the ornamental horticulture industry. This position will focus on establishing a research program related to outdoor nursery crop production, floriculture, potted plant production, postharvest handling, quality improvement of ornamental crops, and controlled environment production.
Job Responsibilities:
- Research programs related to outdoor nursery crop production, floriculture, potted plant production, postharvest handling, and quality improvement of ornamental crops.
- Breeding of specialty and ornamental crops and controlled environment production. Publish regularly in peer-reviewed journals appropriate to the discipline of their research and to the discipline of their research. Compete successfully for external funding to support their research program.
Qualifications:
- Doctoral Degree
- Ph.D. in Plant and Soil Science
- 5-10 years of experience
