JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Urban Agriculture Agent plans, implements, and supports food production initiatives within urban environments. This role focuses on increasing access to fresh, affordable food while promoting sustainable land use, community engagement, and environmental stewardship. The agent works with community members, government agencies, nonprofits, and private partners to design, manage, and expand urban farming systems such as community gardens, rooftop farms, vertical farms, and educational programs. Job responsibilities include: Plan, develop, and manage urban agriculture projects (community gardens, urban farms, rooftop or indoor growing systems). Provide technical assistance and training on sustainable farming practices, soil health, composting, irrigation, pest management, and crop planning. Support community engagement by organizing workshops, volunteer programs, and educational outreach initiatives. Collaborate with local governments, nonprofits, schools, and community groups to advance urban food systems. Monitor project outcomes, collect data, and prepare reports on productivity, community impact, and environmental benefits. Promote food equity and access by supporting programs that serve underserved or food-insecure communities and manage the care of tree populations in urban settings to improve the urban environment.

Other duties as assigned.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture Sciences and/or Urban Forestry preferred, or related disciplines from an accredited institution 
  • 1-5 years of experience

SPECIFIC PHYSICAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be able to lift at least 50 lbs. Must be able to operate farm equipment.
