Research Assistant Professor of Aquaculture

Job Description:

This position is a 12-month tenure track joint appointment as Research Assistant Professor of Aquaculture. The successful applicant will report to the Vice Chancellor for Research on research matters and report to the Vice Chancellor of Extension on extension matters. The duties include: (1) planning, developing and implementing a SU Ag Center Aquaculture Program with a research, extension, and production components, (2) conducting research and outreach activities targeted at major Louisiana Aquaculture commodities for small-scale stakeholders with a focus on aquaponics, crawfish, and catfish, (3) conducting other aquaculture research and extension activities, and (4) participating in scholarly works, such as grant writing and publications related to aquaculture.

Minimal Qualifications:

Required:

A Master’s degree aquaculture, marine biology or related fields is required. However, a combination of experiences and education equal to five years as it relates to the duties above is acceptable.

Preferred: A Ph.D. in aquaculture, marine biology or related fields is preferred with experiences in aquaculture production (research, extension or teaching) is preferred.
