James E. Stewart, Sr.

James E. Stewart, Sr. was elected Caddo Parish District Attorney on November 21, 2015, and has over 43 years of experience as a lawyer, District and Appellate Court Judge in Caddo Parish.

District Attorney Stewart has received numerous honors for his civic involvement and professional achievements. In 2020, District Attorney Stewart was the recipient of the Liberty Bell Award presented by the Shreveport Bar Association for his significant contributions to the community. Most recently in 2022, he was presented the Leaders in Law Enforcement Award by the Community Foundation of Acadiana for his outstanding leadership and service to the community.

District Attorney Stewart is a member of the Mt. Canaan Bapist Church. He is a Life Member of the Rho Omega Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Incorporated and a member of the Sigma Pi Phi Fraternity (The Boulé).

District Attorney Stewart is married to Helen Ewing Stewart and the proud father of five children, two step-children and five grandchildren.
