Assistant/Associate Professor in Human Nutrition and Food

Job Description: 

This is a nine-month, tenure-track position. Responsibilities will include supporting SU's Land-Grant mission of teaching, research and service. Assistant or Associate Professor will teach undergraduate and food and nutrition courses to support concentrations in nutrition, health and wellness and nutrition informatics. Candidates will recruit, advise, and mentor students, develop curricula including, online/distance learning strategies; establish an independent line of research and publish in scholarly journals; Seek and secure external funding to support research and scholarly endeavors in an area of expertise and be active in professional organizations. Must have the willingness and ability to participate in and/or develop collaborative teams with other faculty at Southern University and participate in appropriate service activities. 

Miminal Qualifications:

Earned Ph.D. or equivalent doctorate degree in nutrition or complementary field (with at least 18 graduate hours of coursework in nutrition). Candidate for Doctoral degree may apply; degree must be conferred by hire date. Registered Dietitian Nutritionist, Research or practice-based experience in Nutrition or closely related field, Prior, proficient teaching experience, Experience with delivery of courses in an online modality. Demonstrated commitment to student engagement and success. Evidence of service to the profession and/or community. Experience and/or familiarity with the ACEND accreditation standard. Outstanding communication skills. Desire to work in a collaborative team.
