Department Chair-Family and Consumer Sciences

This position is located at the Family and Consumer Sciences department. 

Job Description:

The Department seeks a dynamic 12-month Chairperson with administrative experience and a strong record of academic achievement to lead thriving undergraduate and graduate programs, which include: Apparel Merchandising; Nutrition & Dietetics; Child Development. The Chairperson is responsible for setting vision and developing strategic initiatives as well as fiscal management, departmental accreditations, curriculum development and review, personnel recruitment, advancement, assessment, and oversight of the teaching laboratories. The Chairperson shall encourage high quality teaching, research, and service, and advocate for the resources needed to sustain the Department's mission and vision. The Chairperson shall develop partnerships within and outside the university, as well as promote the Department's programs to alumni, businesses, government agencies and other educational institutions.

Minimal Qualifications:

 Applicants must hold a doctoral degree in an area appropriate to Family and Consumer Sciences, with academic achievement that merits a tenure track appointment at the rank of associate or full professor.

Applicants must have the ability to work collegially and effectively with faculty, students, staff, administrative colleagues, alumni, and professional communities served by the unit.

Applicants should have successful experiences in accreditation, teaching, administration, graduate education, a record of significant accomplishments in research, and demonstrated experience in grant, contract, or project activities.
