Assistant Agriculture Agent-Horticulture

Job Description:

Area Agent will provide leadership and coordination of all educational programs and outreach in horticulture. This position will work closely with other Extension Specialists/ Program Leaders and Researchers to coalesce programmatic efforts related to small farms, urban agriculture, and agriculture and natural resources.

The Regional Agent - Horticulture will be responsible for the Extension and outreach initiatives pertaining to improved horticultural practices and will work under the direction of the Program Leader, Agriculture and Natural Resources (ANR).

Domicile: Rapides (Rapides/Natchitoches)

Minimal Qualifications:

REQUIRED: The successful candidate must have a BS degree in plant and soil sciences, botany, horticulture, plant pathology, or closely related areas. Masters preferred; Must possess the ability to communicate effectively using oral and written skills; Must have successful leadership and teamwork-building experience with the ability to work with extension colleagues from other disciplines at the state and parish levels: Candidate must also possess a record of successful programming in urban or rural communities; demonstrate ability to work with various socio-economic and ethnic audiences, along with experience in developing public-private community partnerships.
