SUNO Library receives $14 million makeover

The Leonard S. Washington Memorial Library at Southern University New Orleans (SUNO) will host an Open House Thursday, November 2, 2017 to celebrate and showcase its $14million restoration project. Tours are scheduled throughout the day at 11 a.m., noon, 1 p.m., 2 p.m., 3 p.m., 5:30 p.m., 6:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.

The SUNO Library was destroyed in 2005 as a result of Hurricane Katrina. Flood waters soaked thousands of books, periodicals and other research materials. For years after that, students had access to a small library that was housed in a FEMA trailer. Then it moved to a small area of a building that has since been demolished.
