SUBR | Communications Division Manager | Department: University Police | Position: Full-Time Unclassified | Salary: $40,000 - $45,000 | Application Deadline: April 30, 2026

 

Job Description:

The Communications Division Manager manages the activities of the Communications Division by preparing work schedules for Communications Officers. The Manager also oversees the coordination with outside law enforcement, fire, EMS, etc. Confirms that all NCIC validations are reported and submitted properly and promptly. The Communications Division Manager ensures the maintenance and security of all Communications Division records. The candidate will also obtain and maintain APCO International certification for all Communications division personnel.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Planning and controlling the activities of the Communications Division
  • Facilitating the coordination with other public safety agencies
  • Act as the Tactical Officer, confirming and reporting all NCIC validations and forwarding to the Louisiana State Police
  • Planning and scheduling shift work to ensure adequate staffing
  • Arranging training to obtain and maintain annual APCO certification for all Communications Center staff
  • Maintaining and assuring the accuracy, security, and confidentiality of all information contained within the Communications division
  • Identifies opportunities to improve service to the University community
  • Other duties as needed

Minimum Qualifications:

  • GED/High School Diploma
  • Two (3) years + of experience
  • Specific experience in transmitting and receiving messages by radio at a public safety agency

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Specific experience in Criminal Justice
  • Five (5) years + of experience
  • Specific experience in a supervisory role and experience in overseeing a public safety dispatch center
