Michael Skolnik, co-founder and editor-in-chief of GlobalGrind.com, and
political director for hip-hop mogul Russell Simmons, will speak at
Southern University Baton Rouge.
The popular blogger, activist, and social justice advocate will bring his message of structural racism and insight on current topics to SU in the Global Communications Room in the College of Business on October 18, 2012, at 6:30 p.m.

Bayou Classic Announces 2012 Schedule of Events

The Bayou Classic recently announced their official schedule of events for the upcoming series of events beginning November 22, 2012. Each year, this weekend of events brings together family, friends, and alumni of Grambling State University and Southern University to see one of America's greatest college sports rivalries and celebrate football, family, and the traditions surrounding Historically Black Colleges and Universities.
Preliminary figures show SUNO enrollment up seven percent from previous year

Southern University New Orleans continues to climb closer to pre-Katrina enrollment levels as demonstrated by a projected Fall 2012 enrollment of 3,480 students. This number represents a more than seven percent increase over the University's Fall 2011 figures. Included in that number are 274 first-time Freshmen. University officials will not have final enrollment data until after Friday, September 14, 2012, the final day for students to pay their fees. The deadline was extended by a week due to the impact of Hurricane Isaac.

"Inside the Southern University System" radio show returns from summer hiatus on a new station, Downtown Radio 97.7, this Sunday, September 9.
Broadcast on another radio station since 2007, the Southern University System (SUS) radio show will now air on Clear Channel Media and Entertainment's Downtown 97.7 FM on Sunday mornings from 7 a.m. to 8 a.m.
